Gay It Forward: Color by Numbers
The other day I ran across a website called Club Rimshot and on that site there was interview with Mr. Karamo Brown from the Real World. In the interview(which you can click here to see) Karamo and his Latin Lover Ed discuss their relationship and the "haters". Karamo and Ed both go on to discuss how they each, personally get flack from their own communities, black and Latino, for dating outside their race.
Maybe I'm a little naive, but do minority races even have room to be prejudiced or against interracial dating. I don't know if the people who are giving them grief for being together are gay, straight, or both. Are we really doing this? Can a community (The Gay community) that is discriminated on a regular basis really be prejudiced against something like interracial dating.
How can we be against someone for dating outside their race when we are dating someone of the same sex? Discrimination against interracial dating within the gay community, Invisible or In front of you ?

Yep we can! And it's not just in dating. You should see all of the flack going on about Atlanta Pride not doing enough to include African Americans in the events.

I think they hate on his interracial relationship because he hated so much on his roommates on that show he was on.
I have no problem with interracial dating. It only bothers me when someone wont date someone of their own race for some idiotic reson.

Yea, u could be right LJ. I remember how he was so against Landon and Shavonda hooking up and disapproved of their interracial relationship and then brought Ed home. Some might view Karamo as hypocrite, but I believe people can change, and that was awhile ago so I say Let Go and Let God.

yeah and wasn't shavonda half white? so what "race" exactly was she dating (or fucking) outside of?
also, i think other people's reactions were more due to his being hypocritical than dating ed.

I have dated outside my race, and never really paid attention to it. I think the are just picking on the Big K because he made a big issue about it on the show!
